A quick one this week as I’m not at home, will catch up with you all hopefully tomorrow. We are back to cold and rain, today at midday it was only +5C but I have managed to do a bit of gardening each day this last week, it was so lovely to be out in the fresh air and sunshine once more, working in the garden.
Small Rhododendron Princess Anne, is now in flower on the rockery. She is very well behaved and is staying nice and compact!
Epimedium Amber Queen is looking lovely entwined with Brunnera Jack Frost next to it.
I think in close up, they look like little drones!
Clematis Guernsey Cream has now started flowering on the archway into the woodland, lots of buds to follow.
Viburnum plicatum Mariesii is now in her full glory showing off her horizontal layers.
Camassias now blooming under the Amelanchier tree. I think I will have to move them as they are too tall to fit happily under the lowers branches, either that or remove the lower branches, I think moving the bulbs will be easier!
The latest little seedling to join our family, meet Alexander, grandson no 3! My other grandsons are over 21 yrs old, Alex is 21 days! I am having a wonderful time this weekend!
That is it from me, still a lot to do so will get organised when I’m home once more and will enjoy reading all your posts.
Thanks to Jim, do pay him a visit.
The pale yellow flowers of Princess Ann look very pretty against the purple foliage. Lovely.
I’m not sure if the foliage is purple because of the cold winds Graeme, I don’t think rhododendrons usually have purple leaves do they? As you say though, the flowers go very well with them!
What a lovely new seedling for the family.
Very pretty Rhododendron.
Thanks Rosie, he is rather cute!
Congratulations ! a new grandson! This week I love the Viburnum plicatum and the camassias which are in the spotlight in my Six (also with the epimedium but you have flowers… mine must be too young )
Thank you Fred, it is a long time since we had a new addition to the family! Camassias seem to be in a lot of posts this weekend, lovely flowers and also epimediums, they are all coming at the same time.
Well of course all the pictures are beautiful but Alexander is definitely the star of the show, he’s gorgeous!
Thanks Helen, a precious new addition!
Happy Six on Saturday! Your grandson is adorable: Congratulations! And oh my, that ‘Princess Anne’ Rhododendron is beautiful! All the other plants are happy and healthy, too. 🙂
Thank you Beth, it was lovely to meet him and to start getting to know him. I’m very happy with my little Rhododendron Princess Anne, I like the pale yellow flowers.
Huge Congratulations, Pauline! It’s always wonderful to welcome a little one into the family. I’m sure you’ve had a wonderful time with your family. In the garden the Viburnum Mariesii is magnificent. I also like the look of your Rhododendron Princess Anne.
Thanks Catherine, I’ve been having a wonderful time with my family, it made a change from gardening! I am very fond of the Viburnum, it certainly makes a statement!
A lovely phot0 of you and the new arrival. Many congratulations Pauline! The other ‘seedling’ photos are equally magnificent. The epimedium flowers are so pretty , they really do look like little drones.
Thank you Denise, it was lovely meeting him for the first time, I hope the first of many visits! Glad you agree with me that the epimedium flowers look like little drones!
Thank you for sharing that lovely picture of you and your new grand child. Your viburnum is magnificent, and I’ve just gone in to look as some of the carvings you created: magnificent!
Its a pleasure Noelle, it was good to welcome him into the family and I had a lovely time with them all. Thanks for the comments about the carvings, very kind. Can’t carve any more unfortunately, as I fell in the garden over 10 yrs ago and tore 2 muscles in my carving arm!
Oh you have an excellent excuse, congratulations! Hope you had an enjoyable visit and the garden looks wonderful.
Thanks Frank, I had a wonderful time, it is a long time since I had a little one to cuddle!
Congratulations on another grandson – you will be out of practice grannying young children! 😁 I must look out for some more dwarf rhododendron – the most recent one I bought was compact but had ridiculously big flowers! Has C Guernsey Cream really got that pretty green tinge?
I certainly am out of practice Cathy, I’m used to big stapping young men! Yes, Guernsey Cream is as photographed, no editing from me, wouldn’t know how to do it! I think it might be this colour as it is growing in the shade of the woodland.
