The last wood anemone to flower, Anemone nemerosa Vestal is the double variety and has spread downhill at the end of the woodland on what I call Snowdrop Hill. It has spread into a lot of moss growing there and the birds have been helping themselves to the moss, so I was rather worried for a while that the anemones would be damaged, but everything seems to be ok, thank goodness.
