Guardian of the Snowdrops

An early Mother’s Day parcel arrived the other day, in the UK, Mother’s Day is this coming Sunday, 14th March. It was with great excitement that I unwrapped masses of bubble wrap and found……..a giant metal snowdrop!

It will go rusty eventually, but the coat of rust will protect the steel underneath.

After pushing it into the ground, it now stands at about 3ft tall.

It now stands at the end of the right side of the woodland, guardian of all the smaller snowdrops down below, I hope they all now feel safe and protected with a giant watching over them!  Thank you so much dear daughter, a wonderful present for me, my snowdrops and my woodland.

After the gales last night I have just wandered round the garden picking up masses of twigs and branches, no damage was done thank goodness, but I think we will have the gales for a while yet, time to batten down the hatches!

What a beautiful gift Pauline and lovely that it stands so tall to watch over all the others. We also have gales here but fortunately (?) not many flowers have yet appeared!

Thank you Denise, it is certainly the guardian of all it surveys. The gales seem to have died down a bit and thankfully most of my flowers are still standing proudly, just a few have been toppled.

  6. Perfect and perfectly appropriate gift. So thoughtful of your daughter. Hope the weather calms and you have a happy Mother’s Day.

It is the perfect present for someone like me isn’t it Susie! It was still blowing a gale last night, I could hear it howling through the trees and didn’t get much sleep! Hopefully it will die down soon.
